getting started

If you want to get scheduled, we will begin with a 90-minute assessment session. This session is intended to be mostly an intake where I am getting a full picture of you. The point of this is to make sure I have all the details about who you are, so that we can formulate the best plan moving forward. After this meeting, we will schedule follow-ups at whatever frequency is appropriate.

Follow-up sessions are intended to create support and accountability while providing education about important skills and knowledge to make sure your recovery journey feels possible. Because Tennessee Nutrition Counseling believes that recovery is a holistic process involving every part of an individual, conversations will cover all areas of your life – stress management, sleep quality, meal preparation, social gatherings, and all other factors that may impact your health.

nutrition services & pricing

Forms of payment

Cash, check, HSA/FSA cards, and credit/debit card are all accepted at Tennessee Nutrition Counseling, although we do require that you have a credit card on file. You will not be charged until the time of your appointment.

cancellation policy

At Tennessee Nutrition Counseling, your scheduled appointment time is important to ensure that you have the best support for your nutrition needs. All clients must have a credit card on file that may be charged in the event of a no-show or late cancellation. If you need to cancel or reschedule for any reason, notify us via phone or email 48 hours prior to your appointment time. Giving us 48 hours allows another client to be seen during this time. Emergencies will be discussed on a case-by-case basis as we do understand life happens!

insurance coverage

Tennessee Nutrition Counseling is not currently in network with insurance companies, making Rachel Hickman, MS, RDN, LDN an out-of-network provider. The company can provide you with an itemized superbill receipt that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Whether or not you will receive reimbursement typically depends on your individual plan and coverage. If you want to check with your insurance to see what your plan will cover, you can ask them some of the below questions to get the best idea:
• Does my plan include any coverage for nutrition services? How many sessions per year are covered?
• Do I need a certain medical diagnosis on my superbill to be sure that my nutrition sessions are covered by insurance?
• Will I have a copay?
• What percentage of reimbursement will I receive from my insurance?

*no surprises act

As an out-of-network provider, Rachel Hickman, MS, RDN, LDN, wants to ensure that all clients are aware of an estimate of their nutrition therapy costs. Please contact Tennessee Nutrition Counseling if this is important to you and we will discuss a “good faith estimate” further.
